Masseter Botox: jaw slimming and relief from teeth grinding

A strong masseter muscle can square the face and cause grinding and jaw pain. A simple injection can improve both.

If your lower face looks wide or square, or you wake with jaw pain or headaches, your masseter muscle may be stronger than it needs to be. It sits at the angle of the jaw and grows with clenching, just as any muscle grows with exercise.

What is masseter Botox?

A measured dose of Botox injected into the masseter on each side relaxes the muscle and gradually reduces its bulk. The result:

  • A slimmer, softer jawline — a more tapered, oval shape.
  • Less grinding and clenching during sleep.
  • Relief from jaw pain and tension headaches linked to the muscle.

When do results show?

Relief from grinding and pain begins within one to two weeks. Slimming appears gradually after 4 to 6 weeks, as the muscle needs time to reduce. Results usually last 4 to 6 months, often longer with repeat treatment.

Will it affect chewing or my smile?

Placed at the right dose and depth, it does not affect normal chewing or your smile. You may notice mild fatigue chewing very tough foods in the first weeks — which is why experience in mapping the muscle precisely matters.

Who is it for?

  • Those whose wide jaw is due to muscle rather than bone shape or fat.
  • Those who grind or clench their teeth — ideally coordinated with your dentist.
  • Anyone wanting non-surgical facial contouring, sometimes with chin and jawline filler for better balance.

A consultation confirms whether the width really comes from the muscle. Learn more about masseter Botox.
